Is it True that the Speed of Eating Effects Weight Or Is it just another Myth?

  • Is it True that the Speed of Eating Effects Weight Or Is it just another Myth?

I would like to answer this question in form of questions, that you ask to yourself and there you are, by the time you finished reading, you have the answers!

Isn’t It true that common sense is so less common with an exception the “NidSuners” like you? Because you know this fact that foods that have less fiber and are refined, melt in mouth so fast that you have nothing to chew… your might have  experienced this by having a bite of bread and I am sure before you even started chewing it, it vanished in your mouth… that’s because it doesn’t have any fiber in it, non of the junk food has it!.

When you don’t chew a food and you are not consciously eating your food with concentration, then the brain doesn’t get a chance to send signals to your stomach to feel full, medically known as lack of satiety. It’s just like the difference between seeing a picture of your dream destination and actually being there and experiencing it.

Have you noticed that when you are distracted or busy, you often eat without paying attention to what you are eating, me, you, we all tend to eat more quickly? When we do this we don’t have time to enjoy and register the foods and don’t allow time to notice sensations of satiety,

Some scientific studies have shown that it takes around 20 minutes of eating after which your brain sends signals “Stop, it’s enough”.  That’s the reason why you feel unsatisfied when you eat quickly and then go back for seconds or thirds or a lavish heavy dinner   and then end up feeling ridiculously full and bloated and that’s why it becomes difficult for people around you as you produce methane…HA Ha ha

.

Next time when you take time to eat slowly, notice and enjoy the taste and flavors of the foods that you are eating, you will thank NidSun with a pleasant surprise at how little you require, feel satisfied and no longer hungry!!! Try it.

Even if you are eating junk food slowly (somehow I have never been able to achieve that) you can lose weight. I never believed this fact….. till I found an interesting studies by some researchers in University of Rhode Islands in America. They asked 30 volunteers, all of them women to come to a pizza party twice!

  •  1st time when they called these women they told them to eat their pizza by taking small bites and chew each bite for 15 to 20 times.
  •  2nd time they told women to go wild and eat as fast as possible and eat till they felt full.

They found that 1st time, almost all the women ate 70 to 100 calories less and they felt full even 2 hours after the feast as compared to 2nd time when they went bonkers!!!

Don’t forget that you can stop when you feel satisfied as you can have this food again and it will be available next day as well, exception is IF you think world is ending in 2012,

Give that leftover to your maid or keep it in the fridge and come back to it next time you are hungry.

Take Home Message:

Eat food that you can chew for some time and if it is junk food with all white flour, eat slowly and concentrate what you eat and don’t read or even chat on phone because you now know that you will automatically eat much faster while multitasking and the worst part is that you consciously don’t even realize that you just had a big burger and still feel hungry!

Eat Good Live Lite…:)
